Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. I don't want to go to a pay-only model like some sites, but when more and more people block ads, I end up working for free. And I have a family to support, just like you. :)

Please think about the value you get from this free site, and consider adding it to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on freelancingguide.net". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@||freelancingguide.net^$document". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely, Charles Kozierok

Guru - Payment Methods and Mechanisms

Disbursement Methods

Guru supports a wider range of withdrawal methods than many of its competitors:

  • Paper Check: Guru still offers good, old-fashioned snail mail checks, and even sends them overseas. This takes up to one week for receipt in the U.S., as many as three weeks in other countries.

  • Direct Deposit: American freelancers can register a bank account with Guru and have funds deposited directly at no charge. This takes two business days from the day the transaction is initiated.

  • Bank Transfer: This is supported only outside the U.S. and takes up to four days.

  • PayPal: This option is available in all countries supported by PayPal.

  • Guru Prepaid MasterCard: This card is implemented via Payoneer, and is an option in all countries where Payoneer does business.

The direct deposit and bank transfer options complement each other nicely. Direct deposit is commonly done by companies paying individuals in the U.S., while wire transfers to individuals are both expensive and unpopular in this country, yet common outside the U.S.

Withdrawal Policies and Fees

Guru has a somewhat odd schedule for processing withdrawals: it generally handles requests only on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, excepting holidays. Paper checks are only processed once per week, on Friday.

Withdrawal fees depend on the method chosen. Paper checks cost $3 each, while bank transfers cost $9. Direct deposit within the U.S. is free. Guru does not charge for Paypal or Payoneer requests, but those companies may impose their own fees.
