Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. I don't want to go to a pay-only model like some sites, but when more and more people block ads, I end up working for free. And I have a family to support, just like you. :)

Please think about the value you get from this free site, and consider adding it to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on freelancingguide.net". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@||freelancingguide.net^$document". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely, Charles Kozierok

Elance - Payment Methods and Mechanisms

Disbursement Methods

There are four main methods for getting your money from your Elance account:

  • Paper Check: Standard snail mail check. This is offered only for U.S. and Canadian providers.

  • Bank Transfer: All countries (excepting ones with which Americans may not legally conduct business).

  • PayPal: All countries supported by PayPal.

  • Elance Prepaid MasterCard: This is implemented via Payoneer, and an option in all countries where Payoneer is supported.

  • MoneyBookers.com: Elance added support for this British e-commerce site in April 2011. It is only available to contractors outside the United States.

As with most businesses, Elance processes payments only on non-holiday weekdays. Payment is usually made promptly with only the normal delays associated with the relevant payment type (one or two business days for electronic methods, a week or more for a check). I have not had personal experience with the prepaid Payoneer card.

Withdrawal Policies and Fees

As with the timing of payments for projects completed, Elance does not use a monthly or weekly billing cycle for disbursements. You can withdraw from your account at any time.

To its credit, Elance also does not charge any money for funds withdrawal—not even a paper check. However, international customers who withdraw funds using Paypal are charged an extra 2.5% currency conversion fee.
